Today marks the release of the sixth book of the Lodestone series! In this book I wanted to bring back the old favorite characters as a celebration of the series, but to toss them into a new culture on a planet wholly alien to them. The result, I hope, will be an opportunity for readers to re-discover them. Keris is as inflexible as ever, but finds a new ally in Juca. I crafted Juca as the perfect foil for Keris. as in the best of relationships, Juca makes up for the qualities Keris lacks.
As ever, the alien characters play a big role. The Chandara are back with their enigmatic take on life and the concept of reality. Once again, their role is central to the resolution of the story. The Helvenan castes introduced in Book four, Seeds Across the Sky, are now morphed into a new, dark society that resonates with some of the darker aspects of humanity.
The nazaraan provide moments of both comedy and tragedy. The lenzaar sisterhood is a unique creation. I really enjoyed crafting the details of their speech, customs and philosophy. It's always been amazing to me how people and races come to life in your imagination as you work on the details. I can honestly say I have dreams about my books when I'm writing them!
It's my hope that you will get as much enjoyment out of this latest installment as I had in writing it!
Lodestone Book One: The Sea of Storms
Lodestone Book Two: The World of Ice and Stars
Lodestone Book Three: The Crucible of Dawn
Lodestone Book Four: Seeds Across the Sky
Lodestone Book Five: The Conquered Shore
Lodestone Book Six: Eternity's Shadow
